A Paralyzed man able to walk with mind-controlled exoskeleton suit

Big news coming out of France as a paralyzed man has recently walked for the first time in 4 years due to help from researchers. This 30-year-old, only identified as Thibault, fell 50 feet and was paralyzed from the neck down. He began participating in a trial of an exoskeleton walking machine in 2017.

The suit is controlled by implants surgically placed on his brain. Thibault learned to control the bodysuit by essentially playing a video game that used an algorithm to track what his brain wanted to do.

The suit weighs 140 lbs and was harnessed to the roof to prevent him from fall. The movements are far from perfect but are significant progress for paralyzed individuals.
